Nebraska Energy Office Extends Comment Period on 2009 State Energy Plan
New Deadline of December 1 to Submit Comments

Lincoln, NE - Nebraska Energy Office Director Neil Moseman extended the deadline for one additional week for Nebraskans to provide their thoughts and suggestions for a new State Energy Plan. The new deadline is 5 pm December 1. The state is seeking public input to focus on three energy goals:

  • Energy Independence
  • Job Creation/Economic Development
  • Energy Efficiency for Government

"Hundreds of comments have been submitted on the agency's web site," Neil Moseman said. "A number of Nebraskans have asked for a longer comment period, and I was glad that we could accommodate their request. With a December 1 deadline, Nebraskans who want to make their feelings known on the state's energy future will have had more than a month to submit their ideas and suggestions."

The 2009 Nebraska Energy Plan provides a framework for how energy is used in the state and potential usage trends in the near future. The Nebraska Energy Office is seeking comments from interested Nebraskans on policies and approaches the state might use to assure that Nebraskans have reliable and affordable sources of energy that support a cleaner environment and a more secure energy future. The Plan is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
